Our Sedation Dentistry or Sleep Dentistry in Pickering methods include:

  • Nitrous Gas (Laughing Gas) – This is a colorless, non-flammable gas with a hint of sweetness. It is commonly known as laughing gas for its euphoric effects. This type of sedation is popular for its anesthetic and pain-reducing effects. Most patients prefer this method due to the fact they can remain conscious. It is one of the most common forms of sedation in general dentistry, and can sometimes be complemented by other anaesthetics.

  • Oral Sedation – This medical procedure involves taking oral sedatives in the forms of medicine or pills to reduce the fear experienced during a dental procedure. Oral sedation is a recommended method for patients who suffer from anxiety, prior dental trauma, belonephobia (fear of needles or sharp instruments) or for those who have a general fear of the dentist or IV sedation.

  • Intravenous (IV) Sedation – This technique involves an intravenous needle containing a sedative, which in turn causes the patient to feel drowsy and unaware when a procedure is being carried out. While you may not be entirely unconscious, you will enter a state of relaxation and unawareness. It is more commonly used for multiple implant surgeries and wisdom tooth extractions, and other complex procedures. IV sedation is considered as one of the alternatives to general anesthesia for minor surgeries. It also helps avoid the complications of general anesthetic agents.
